CYBERSEC LAB

I direct the Cybersecurity Laboratory (CyberSec) to work with graduate and undergraduate students in a way that facilitates learning in a collaborative and supportive environment.

At CyberSec, we investigate a variety of open research problems in the field of cybersecurity. In addition, we investigate open research problems that lie at the intersection of cybersecurity and machine learning, a.k.a. adversarial machine learning. At CyberSec, we aim to contribute to the kingdom vision 2030 via increasing information systems security awareness and developing high-quality education and research in this emerging field of study. Our main goal in CyberSec is to become one of the best research laboratories in cybersecurity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

We typically combine theoretical and empirical insights to build a thorough understanding of cybersecurity techniques and principles. Currently, we have three major research themes in our lab as follows:
In the first theme, we investigate the robustness of machine learning algorithms against emerging cyber-attacks such as data poisoning attacks.
In the second theme, we study concept drift intending to build a robust framework that can distinguish between natural concept drift and malicious attacks.
In the third theme, we investigate the robustness of secure cryptographic shuffling algorithms against cyber-attacks.

  • If you are a current graduate student at Taif University and you are interested in working with me, please do not hesitate to email/call me. I love discussing research ideas with graduate students.
  • If you are a current undergraduate student at Taif University and you are interested in taking your capstone project with me, please do not hesitate to email me in advance before your senior year begins.
